This sermon is about self-knowledge and self-creation. In order to fulfil his or her full potential within the Satanic life, each Satanist has to know themselves as fully as possible. Furthermore a Satanist also views themselves as something to be formed or moulded, just as much as they view the external world as something to be manipulated. I was taught two techniques by which the above aims can be achieved. The first technique is to visualise yourself standing at the Gates of Hell. I have mentioned this previously in that it can be achieved by praying to demons. If the technique works then suddenly you find yourself faced with the questions of who you are and what you want. Or, to put it more directly, what it is that you are asking for from the power that you are addressing, and what you are prepared to give in return. The second technique is a more explicit act of creation. It is to visualise a void and then to create yourself within it. Here you are placed face to face with yourself and can see what needs to be changed to become the thing that you want to be. Both techniques are useful, and complementary, for the Satanic life. The first has the virtue of making you feel uncomfortable, which is necessary for any kind of personal growth. The second is more joyous, and as such is a useful reminder of the pleasures to be found within this way of living. It is also a blasphemous act (to return once again to that topic). You are placing yourself in the position that the creator claims for his own. Satan himself said "I will make myself like the Most High", and this is a noble ambition for us all.
