Again, I continue here with an interpretation of the words of the first prayer. The remaining lines of the opening verse are Your wishes are done Through us your willing servants. Here we have to start to consider the other half of the "deal". I have already described what a Satanist can hope to gain from the active worship of Satan as his or her Lord. Freedom and power come naturally to those willing to take that route. But what is it that Satan requires from us in return? I find this difficult to answer. I have already expressed my belief that the supernatural powers are, in some ways, comprehensible to us mortals - that we share the same needs and desires. But the differences are just as great. Few of us could seriously comprehend the death of God, but that is exactly what is hoped for later in the prayer, as the expression of Satan's ultimate victory. And, as a traditional Satanist, I do believe there will ultimately be a new war in heaven, which will bring forth that much longed for triumph. I imagine therefore that what is required of us is to be good servants of our Lord. A good servant is simply one that can be relied upon when needed. Perhaps the ultimate test will not happen in our lifetimes, and perhaps therefore we ourselves will never see it. But I think our duty is to make ourselves ready - to make each of ourselves as good a servant as possible - for when our Master does call. That's why the word "willing" is so important in the above prayer. It is vital that every Satanic word or act that we do, for our own pleasure or for the praise of our Lord, is done "willingly", done because we *want* to do it. There is no point repeating prayers or rituals by rote, that will do nothing for us, it will have no effect upon us or upon Satan himself. But the simplest word or act, that is done willingly in Satanic knowledge, can enhance us for our own benefit, and for the benefit of the Lord that we have chosen to serve, and in whose interests we naturally share.
