This sermon continues interpreting the words of the first prayer. The next line to consider is Your kingdom has come Again, this references the line in the Lord's Prayer that says "Thy Kingdom Come", and it is useful to consider the obvious difference. In the Satanic prayer the emphasis is on the present day, whereas the Christian version looks forward to some nebulous future time. In turn, this is due to a fundamental difference in the way that the present world is viewed. For a Satanist this world and the life within it is all that matters. I've never seen a Satanist who spends much time thinking about what will happen after death. Personally, I expect there to be nothing, and I do not think that I am unusual in holding to that viewpoint. Much has been written about the way that a determined concentration on the next world can be used by the established churches to maintain and even encourage injustice and domination within this world. This is undoubtedly true, but my point is much simpler - it is that it also prevents the full enjoyment of what this world has to offer. Instead the Satanist says that you should live for today, as fully as you can, and make of this world what you want it to be. The other thing that can be read out of the line in the prayer, is that this world is already Satan's kingdom. He is already in charge here, in the practical sense that almost everything that happens is very much to his taste. Not because there exists a cabal of Satanists who are secretly running things (although I have seen that theory propounded in all seriousness) but simply because the standard every day self-centred behaviour of people is enough to make a world that can easily be recognised as being in His image. It is obvious to say that Satanists are viewed with extreme suspicion by the rest of the world. But it is equally true that in my normal dealings with the people around me, I do not think that I am viewed as particularly worse than anyone else, despite actively living what I consider to be a Satanic life. I think this is simply because most people are pretty much on the same path. I think almost all of us are Satan's followers, whether we actively think of him as our master or not. In which case, the legitimate question is why bother to be an active Satanist at all. The answer, which I've given before and will repeat again, is that an active engagement with Satanism is a way in which a person can learn to shape the world around them. Starting with real self-knowledge and self-acceptance, and moving into both selfish and self-less worship of Satan as some kind of Master, moves a person into controlling their own life and that of the people around them. I think this is already Satan's kingdom. And, to return to my first theme, it is a lot more enjoyable if you are not a victim of the people that are around you. Instead you should make them your victims, treating them in the way that you wish. That is the Satanic way of living.
