HERE'S WHAT THE MODELS WERE REQUIRED TO SIGN AT PHOTOSHOOTS I'VE ATTENDED IN THE PAST.

This in the days of a previous Organizer of the groups I run now.
It will never happen again. At last as long as I'm in charge of things.

IT'S WHAT I CALL THE RELEASE FROM HELL...

" BUFFALO PHOTOGRAPHY MEETUP GROUP - MODEL RELEASE.

In consideration of my engagement as a model, and for other good and valuable consideration herein acknowledged as received,

I hereby warrant that I am of full age and have the right to contract in my own name. I have read the above authorization, release, and agreement, prior to its execution, and am fully familiar with the content of this document. This document shall be binding upon me and my heirs, legal representatives, and assigns. Each Photographer shall have release rights on to those images that they have personally captures.

Consideration:

In consideration for the above release, the Photographer must supply his or her best photographs of me, the model, in a quantity as predetermined by the event organizer, with a license to use provided images for personal use, including my model portfolios, online and offline. I understand that the photographer is not required to provide high-resolution images, and may, at a reasonable cost, supply physical prints for my book. Failure by the Photographer to provide such photographs effectively recinds the above release. "

THE MODELS HAD TO PAY THEIR OWN MONEY TO BE ADMITTED TO THE SHOOT...

THEN THEIR TIME, MONEY AND MODELING GOT THEM *THIS*.,:

By signing the release, models were agreeing they had *already* been compensated. Even before any photographers took any photos. That basically did in any future claim they may make when they in fact were NOT compensated.

The photographers, and ANYONE they decided to give the files to are permitted to do ANYTHING they wanted to do with the images. Distort the face or any other part of the model to be ugly, deformed, or gross. Morphed to put her head on a frog. Print her image in a story on prostitution. Be part of a porn montage. That's to name just to name a FEW possible applications.

The Photographers were not required to provide high quality photographs of the model. That means technically that just 340 pixel files could be supplied. And in fact that's all that were provided in some cases, if the model was not left in the cold entirely. And of course they were not always the 'best' taken either.

Instead of files.., the photographer might give the model low-quality hard-copy prints and charge them for the cost of time and expense it took to produce them.

But more likely the photographer would pass nothing to the model, because in reality the models never even knew who the photographers were, so they could go after them.., and maybe 'nag' them into turning over some of the prints they deserved.

The LAST line of the release is meaningless BS.. Obviously there just to give the model a feeling of sureness.. But in fact the models had already agreed they had received their compensation in the first line of the agreement.

The truth is, many photographers never paid attention to any need to pass photos to models. They didn't worry about it because they knew there will always be NEW models who don't know any better coming along, who they could take advantage of next time.

THAT'S the reason there are NO releases signed at shoots we hold here. And all photographers are REQUIRED to supply a minimum of three portfolio ready files to each model who comes to the shoot. If they do not.., they are not welcome at future shoots we hold.

Thanks..
