What should you bring to the Sweat? A Grandfather – A large rock that is bigger than a grapefruit, but smaller than a basketball. As you go out to look for a grandfather, please remember that the Grandfather picks you, not the other way around. If you pick up a Grandfather and it slips through your fingers and falls back to the ground, leave it. A chair – Some sort of folding chair to sit in after the sweat. Usually right after the sweat experience many people have questions and hearing someone else describe their experience can sometimes flush out your own memories. It's nice to be comfortable while this is going on. It also makes a nice place to eat. Potluck – something to eat and share, you will be very hungry after this experience and since the whole concept is tribal, sharing food adds to the tribal experience. Typically it is very dark with limited table space, so most will be eating on paper plates in their laps. I usually stick with something simple and neat, although on occasion I have brought a pot of very think chili. A couple of large towels – one as a covering the other to dry off with after the sweat. Blanket – something of you to add to the lodge structure itself, this gives you an opportunity to add some of your personal energy to the lodge.
