Dear Editor, I don’t like politics and I do not care for most politicians. I find the majority of them to be self-serving and arrogant. I’m a registered Democrat and have been voting since I was eighteen. To my perpetual dismay I always feel like I’m voting for the “lesser-of-evils,” be they Democrat, Republican, Independent, or whatever. Lo and behold, I never thought it would happen in my lifetime but I’ve discovered a candidate running for president whom I CAN support. In fact, I am so passionate about this candidate that I will change parties to vote for him in the primary. And I have volunteered for his campaign! Ron Paul, a ten-term Congressman from Texas is a rare bird. He actually tells it like it is. And his own party is not very happy with him. Congressman Paul is the only Republican in the House of Representatives who voted against the Iraq war. He has never voted to raise taxes or congressional pay. He does not accept corporate contributions nor does he participate in the lucrative congressional pension. Hard to believe? Read on. Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act and regulating the Internet. He returns a portion of his annual office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. He has repeatedly been named the “Taxpayers’ Best Friend” in Congress. A Ron Paul Presidency would reduce the size of the federal government, lower our taxes significantly, secure our borders, and rescind the free trade deals that undermine our sovereignty. Originally from Pittsburgh, Dr. Paul served as a flight surgeon in the U. S. Air Force during the 1960s. After many years as an OBGYN, he now represents the 14th district in Texas as a statesman and principled public servant. There IS hope for America after all…Ron Paul in 2008. Joe Salorino Erie
