2nd Year Announcements
Vizsla Lovers!
Now that we are starting the 2nd year of the Austin Vizsla Meetup Group, We
are 70 members strong and growing. We still need to beat the San Diego group and
I'm confident we will be number one in the USA by the end of 2009. I'd like to
cover a few housekeeping items to make sure our members are getting the most
from this network.
ITEM 1: PUPS
I often receive emails from folks
looking for Vizlsa pups. I think this is a good group to make recommendation for
reputable breeders. I'm okay with folks looking to place their Vizsla pup. But,
if we have backyard breeders that are mistreating the breed ... I'm not
interested in promoting them and will politely ask that they not participate in
our group. I hope that is acceptable to the group... please advise. If you know
of any pups available ... please email the group.
ITEM 2:
FOSTERING
I have recently received information about fostering from Peggy
Ross in Houston. She is the rescue coordinator for the Texas Gulf Coast Vizsla
Club's rescue group. She has advised us that the Austin area rescue is covered
by Jeanne Lehrmann, but I do not have her information. There are times that they
share information and contacts. They are always looking for knowledgeable foster
people as well as adopters. And Austin is not too far to drive to bring one of
you a dog to foster.
I've asked her to join our group and let us know if
there are foster dogs available, you can contact her at Tgcvcrescue@aol.com and
218-356-7350.
ITEM 3: SPONSORSHIP
For our first year I paid $144
to launch this group and keep it going. If you will indulge me just a moment, I
have not asked for any business from you, I am a mortgage consultant and my
business is based solely on referrals. I provide home financing consultation
services for those looking to refinance or make a purchase. However, times are a
little tough right now and I could use some help. If you are okay with this ...
I would like to propose that in 2009 we have sponsors ... maybe from our own
membership? Each quarter we could have one of our members or someone that our
member trusts as a service provider pay for the renewals of the Austin Vizsla
Meetup Group. There is a place on our meetup site, that I can place your logo
and information. Plus we will announce you and provide information about your
services. Would this be acceptable to you? If yes, who would like to
sponsor this first quarter for $45.00 or first 6 months for $72.00? Or, if you
would just like to volunteer to cover the costs to keep our group growing that
would be fabulous as well. Please advise.
ITEM 4: March & April
Meetup
One of our Members -- January is setting us up with a Luring
Instructor for an outing in March. That should be exciting. Plus, Erica Laughlin
has offered her Wimberley Home for an outing first of April when the weather is
nice. She lives close to the Blanco river and has a great place that we could
bring some food/drinks, let the dogs run and we can relax and visit with each
other. Stay tuned for the dates for both these events.
February Event ... I
really need a south location? We are always meeting up north ... but have not
found good hiking south as yet. Any ideas?
I know this is a long message
... I appreciate your feedback. This is your group...not just mine ... so I need
your help to make it the type of meetup group you want. You can call or email me
